What are RSS feeds? RSS stands for either "Rich Site Summary" or "Really Simple Syndication," and is a way of exchanging data between computers that allows Internet users to "subscribe" to "feeds" of data like blogs, podcasts, news, and so on. See the Wikipedia entry about RSS feeds here. You can watch a short video on RSS, one that's very easy to understand, by clicking here. Internet users typically view RSS data in a newsreader program such as NetNewsWire, NewsGator, or Google Reader, to name just three. These applications let users automatically download new posts from the source, and the programs let the users see which ones have been read and which ones have not. This is a big time saver for many people—you can review the new material from various Web sources without having to click on each and every Web site and figure out what's been added recently. RSS can also be used to embed news sources on Web pages, and it is often used as an "aggregator," combining news or data from various sources onto one page. To subscribe to our News blog, click on one of the links below, then copy the link address into your newsreader program. You'll then be subscribed to the 21st Century Project's News Blog RSS Feed. To unsubscribe, simply delete the link from your newsreader program. You can also use this button to add our news feed to your Google Reader account: Or this button to add our news feed to your Yahoo! account:
